Why Patriotism?

LGF
tells us that Dixie Chick Natalie Maines just doest get patriotism in her interview with The Telegraph.

The entire country may disagree with me, but I don't understand the necessity for patriotism, Maines resumes, through gritted teeth. Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country ... I don't see why people care about patriotism.

This typifies the liberal view that America is no better than any other country. Rooted in moral relativism, democracy becomes equated with less free forms of governmentseverelyeverly flawed sense to "equality".

"A lot of pandering started going on, and you'd see soldiers and the American flag in every video. It became a sickening display of ultra-patriotism."

Disgusted by the flag, the troops, Where's the disgust for terrorism?
So why be patriotic? Here's why, patriotism motivates us and inspires us to see beyond ourselves to a common good. Patriotism unites Americans who vary by every race creed and color, all economic and cultural backgrounds. Patriotism celebrates our freedoms, our common history and the land we love. Patriotism makes a country a family, bonded by love despite differences, bonded by our heritage despite our failings, and bonded by success however great or small. Patriotism brought us the Declaration Of Independence, The Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

.. ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.~ John F. Kennedy

Abe Lincoln

He who is void of virtuous attachments in private life is, or very soon will be, void of all regard for his country. There is seldom an instance of a man guilty of betraying his country, who had not before lost the feeling of moral obligations in his private connections

The Sam Adams quote is fantastic!

It seems that Fatalie is SO out of touch with America that she is now capable only of understaning the most out-there of the moonbat ranks. She is morally corrupt, and reeks of apathy and avarice.

I predict that very soon she will be the topic of a VH1 "where are they now" show.
