Aztlan vs America?

Illegal Immigration advocates often talk about the long history of migration in the Americas, arguing that "the borders crossed us". These people must be at least 160 years old for this to be true. The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo,was signed on Feb. 2, 1848. The Rio Grande was made the southern boundary of Texas, California and New Mexico were ceded to the U.S. In return the U.S. paid Mexico the sum of $15 million and agreed to settle all claims of U.S. citizens against Mexico.

These same Illegal Immigration advocates who bemoan Manifest Destiny, refuse to acknowledge that Texas had already freed itself from Mexico's rule in the Texas Revolution of 1836. California also revolted against Mexico and claimed the Bear Flag Republic on June 14,1846. To say that Mexico had a strong claim in the Southwest is the stuff of fantasy. The Texans and Californios were fed up with Santa Ana's dictorial government and rebeled.

To further this fantasy the Southwest is refered to by Mexicans as "Atzlan". A place of Aztec mythology, whose location wasn't determined to be in the US until 1968. Why the 120 year wait? It took that long for the political climate to be come radicalized enough to establish an essentially anti-American attitude. The Vietnam War had emboldened the far left, communists , socialist and anarchists. Cool college students were burning their draft cards, "turning on, tuning in and dropping out". It was the perfect breeding ground for exremism.

As a result, the Chicano movement La Raza (the Race) and MEChA were formed and established their manifesto "El Plan Espiritual de Aztlán" (The Spiritual Plan Of Aztlan). their slogan, 'Por La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada'' ("For the Race, everything; outside of the Race, nothing."). This is designed to consolodate people through racial identity and reject the traditional American value of the "melting pot". Some Latino leaders have even gone as far as promoting the idea of "Reconquista", to "reconquer" American land. Current political situations have rebirthed these racially seperatist atiitudes with organized demonstrations.

Now we are at war again and the far left is trotting out the same sepratist rhetoric. Here's a preamble from In Search Of Aztlan;

""Nationalism as the key to organization transcends all religious, political, class and economic factions or boundaries. Nationalism is the common denominator that all members of La Raza can agree on.""

This group has based it's nationality on race, much like the Aryan Nation, and their means may not be peaceful.

""Those institutions which are fattened by our brothers to provide employment and political pork barrels for the gringo will do so only by acts of liberation and La Causa. For the very young there will no longer be acts of juvenile delinquency, but revolutionary acts.""

Revolution against the gringo, and no mention of peaceful means of this "revolution". Divsion of race and class to further a socialist state? You bet.

""A nation, autonomously free, culturally, socially, economically and politically, will make its own decisions on the usage of our lands, the taxation of our goods, the utilization of our bodies for war, the determination of justice (reward and punishment) and the profit of our sweat.
EL PLAN ESPIRITUTAL DE AZTLÁN IS THE PLAN OF LIBERATION!""

Liberation from America and capitalism you see. But "In Search Of Aztlan" is not a lone wolf, these seniments are echo in the Barrio Warriors Manifeto

""We declare that this power, not a particular individual, is our fundamental enemy and that the name of this power is "Colonization" and that Capitalism is its principal weapon. Though we have been colonized by Yanquis for 150 years, we are at the earliest stages of our liberation struggle.""

Once again the total rejection of the American way of life, with no intention of assimilation.
Mexica Movement
has this to say,

Listen my people
we are all one people
on this continent.
Forget the borders.
Forget English and Spanish languages.
Forget “America”.
We are the Indigenous people of this continent.

Actually, scientists think that you are the people who came across the land bridge from Asia. Here's another manifesto from a MEChA site,

1) We are Chicanas and Chicanos of Aztlán reclaiming the land of our birth (Chicana/Chicano Nation);

2) Aztlán belongs to indigenous people, who are sovereign and not subject to a foreign culture;

3) We are a union of free pueblos forming a bronze (Chicana/Chicano) Nation;

4) Chicano nationalism, as the key to mobilization and organization, is the common denominator to bring consensus to the Chicana/Chicano Movement;

5) Cultural values strengthen our identity as La Familia de La Raza; and

6) EPA, as a basic plan of Chicana/Chicano liberation, sought the formation of an independent national political party that would represent the sentiments of the Chicana/Chicano community.

Once again, race rules the day, a "bronze nation". But do most Mexican immigrants fell this way or are they just useful idiots for the far left? There is evidence to suggest the later. Socialist and Communist groups have heralded May 1 as the traditional holiday of Communist Workers, and embraced all the immigrant demonstrations as the futherment of the Socialist/Communist cause. Here's a list of goals made by the Young Communist League

We support legislation such as the DREAM Act, which would allow undocumented students in colleges and universities across the country to receive financial aid.

We believe that access to quality education is a right for all, regardless of immigration status.

We join labor, immigrant rights and civil liberties organizations in demanding the restoration and expansion of the civil rights of immigrants, which are denied due to undocumented status and were further stripped away after September 11.

We call for ending the "special registration" of immigrants from certain countries for so-called national security purposes, along with the denial of due process and legal counsel for detained immigrants.

We call for a full amnesty policy that enables immigrants who have been living and working in the United States to change their status and become citizens with full legal rights.

We demand protections for immigrant workers who organize on the job, barring employers from firing them and having them deported once they speak up at work.

Finally, the question of family reunification strikes at the heart of our generation and we demand an end to the current immigration policies that separate and divide hundreds of thousands of families.

Sound familiar?
Marxist magagzine Political Affairs asks us ""Which Languages are "Foreign"?"" and explains,

""Right-wing language chauvinists claim that English is "the language of the United States" and that all others are "foreign." ""

The truth is that most Mexicans come here for a better life in a capitalist country because the economy here is the envy of the world. Even us Right Wing Language Chauvanists don't have a problem with that. All we ask is that these immigrants respect our laws so we can weed out criminals, terrorists, MS-13 members and drug smugglers, while at the same time allowing legal immigrants to share in the American dream. That is the just and honorable solution.

Didn't we have the Revolutionary War because (among other things) King George refused to redress the concerns of the American Colonies?

Sounds like more of the same going on here.

Dont these Aztlanitics realize that any claim they have to the Aztec nation is illusionary? Most are the product of Spanish bloodlines NOT Aztec. The indians or tribes that were in Mexico at the time of the spanish were NOT Aztec. So the Spanish mixing with them does not give those decendants Aztec bloodlines.

That's a good point WMD, the Mecha crowd also likes to pretend that the Native Americans and the Aztecs are all the same people. Just like the Holocaust deniers and the 9/11 consiracy theorists, logic doesn't enter into it.

The story of Aztlan goes back to the Mexica(Aztec)people and is in fact the basis of our history and religion. Aztlan was the birth place of the Aztecs and was not something that was invented in the 60s by radicals. It was something that was embraced by the Chicano who was being discriminated against and not excepted into the mainstream American culture. Mexican/Chicanos are in general a mixed race and most of us cling to our Native American blood rather than our Spanish white blood. We have proven ourselves to be great Americans but still you don't except us. We have shed so much blood for this country and still you hate us. We say that our ancestors came from what today is the American southwest and you don't believe us. I just ask you to look up these facts. How many Chicanos and Mexicans have recieved US war medals especially the Medal Of Honor. Look up the true reasons as to why the Mexican-American war was fought and see what true great Americans like Abraham Lincoln had to say about it. Check to see how many Chicanos/Mexicanos are currently fighting in Iraq and Afganistan. Look up the Uto-Aztecan Language Family. And see for yourselves how all of the Southwest tribes are related. Especially the Hopi and the Nahuatl(Aztec). I hope that through understanding we might find a better life for ALL Americans.Peace.

SV,
All people of the world are related. But this is the US, and to claim it is Mexico due to a religion that existed before the Spainards arrived is a bit silly. It also doesn't justify breaking the customs and immigration laws of soveriegn nations. The history of Central American peoples is rich and you should be proud of that, just don't try to use it as an excuse to abuse the border.
