Blind Cleric Justice
For those of you who think that Moussaoui's life sentence is somehow better punishment than the death , that he is going to "rot in prison", or that we robbed him of martyrdom. Consider this. Omar Abdel-Rahman,the Egyptian "Blind Cleric", who was sentenced to life in 1995 for the 1993 WTC Bombing. has staged hunger strikes and garnered support at websites likeThis one.His lawyer, Lynne Stewart was convicted for helping Abdel-Rahmen communicate with his followers in Egypt.

TRENTON, N.J. - Omar Abdel-Rahman, the blind Muslim cleric convicted a decade ago of plotting to blow up New York City landmarks, remains a concern for New Jersey authorities, wary that his poor health may spur terrorist activity, state Attorney General Peter C. Harvey said Thursday.
Abdel-Rahman is serving a life term in federal prison. But information about the radical Egyptian sheik has been scarce, particularly after his former lawyer, Lynne Stewart, was convicted earlier this year of sneaking messages from him to his disciples.
"It's his followers and also people who adhere to his teachings who concern us. We all have seen information that suggests there could be some activity that surrounds the state of his health, or some worse event that may happen to him. So we have to pay attention to it," Harvey said following a news conference at which state officials discussed beefed up security in New Jersey because of the terrorist bombings in London.
In Moussaoui's case, is there any reason to believe he won't preach the same hatred as Abdel Rahmen in our prison, contact future muhajideen, and perhaps even influence a terrorist attack? It's a safe bet he will at least try, and even more likely he'll be able to practice dawa to fellow inmates who aren't lifers. None of this bodes well for Americans, who need to take a hard look at a justice system that isn't designed to deal with violent jihad.

I couldnt agree with u more Amboy...and I'm still in shock over the verdict..why is he still breathing air?!
You're not kidding. I think the message that he no longer takes up any space on the planet would speak better to the enemy.
Everything has it's consequences; life or death, so why not go with the more effective of the two.
I especially love the "racial discrimination" argument. I honestly don't care too much for what has happened in ones life to lead them to doing wrong, with the exception of perhaps learning from it. Bottomline is that he screwed up and can now just continue to mouth off, give courage to our enemies and live off of our country.
France can bite me too!
For one thing, he is going to be locked down for a minimum of 23 hours per day and his one hour outside will not be with other inmates. He will have no contact with other inmates.
Still he could start a hunger strike but personally I hope he does. Let him starve. I don't think the prison system where he is at will allow him to become a news item. He wanted to be a martyr and now this has been taken away from him.
I was hoping for the death sentence but Moussaoui is probably going to spend 40-50 years in a small cell. Not an existence I would want.
Air conditioning and cable...3 halal squares a day...
Not bad for a piece of trash like him.
Puke.
ac,
For now. Just like the idiots who didn't give him death, there will be future idiots who will bemoan his situation and want to change it.
Sheik Santa Claus from WTC 93. I want a nice big menorah for the holidays.
Well he can here cable but can't watch Larry King or anything else as he is blind. I wonder if the Queer Eye Guys would give him a makeover.
How do you nimrods reconcile the sanctity of life, pro-life, ban on abortion with the death penalty.
Is it possible that you are HUGE hypocrites?
I suppose anything's possible, but what's at issue here is what kind of punishment does someone involved in the murder of 2700 people deserve?
What do you think?
I really want to know.
I think you are either a Christian who stands on the line of the sanctity of life and forgiveness and redemption for ALL cases or
you are a hypocrite who has one set of rules when it suits some politics and a different set of rules when the politics blow the other way.
And I didn't hear the "death to Oklahoma City Bomber" call too loud.
Why is that?
Racism?
(delete the question mark)
Well think again, Mc Viegh needs the death penalty, as well as his consirators. You want to put the Unabomber to death? I'm for it. Anyone who brings up arms against this country deserves death.
